Samoeng (Thai: สะเมิง) is a district (amphoe) of Chiang Mai Province in northern Thailand.

Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Mae Taeng, Mae Rim, Hang Dong, Mae Wang, Mae Chaem and Galyani Vadhana of Chiang Mai Province and Pai of Mae Hong Son Province.
The district was originally created in 1902. At first it was a minor district (King Amphoe), which was upgraded to a full district in 1908.[1] 1938 it was again downgraded to a minor district,[2] and upgraded back to a full district 1958.[3]
The district is subdivided into 5 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 45 villages (muban). Samoeng Tai is a subdistrict municipality (thesaban tambon), which covers parts of tambon Samoeng Tai. There are further 4 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
